We have encouraged private side to develop ducting system

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama encourages private side to develop ducting system as utility network place. This is because, utility often clog the gutter and disturb water channel until causing inundation in rainy season.

"We have encouraged private side to develop ducting system. One of them is Bakrie Tower," he told, at City Hall, Wednesday (1/27).

Nevertheless, he acknowledged cannot do strict action towards utility owner. Initially, the utility would be cut, yet it is deemed too risky. "Do you dare to cut PLN cable? Of course not, you will be electrocuted," he exclaimed.

According to him, if the utility is not disturbing water flow, the inundation will reduce. He cited, Matraman and Cawang areas are often inundated due to closed-utility channel.

"Our priority is channel for the water first and slowly develop the ducting," he said.
